The Illinois State Police suffered two Move Over Law-related crashes last week, adding to the concerning trend of incidents involving this crucial safety regulation. In 2024 alone, the ISP has already experienced 14 Move Over Law-related crashes, resulting in six troopers being injured.

The state's Move Over Law, commonly referred to as “Scott’s Law,” mandates that all drivers must slow down and move over when approaching an emergency vehicle or any vehicle displaying its emergency or hazard lights. This law is designed to protect first responders, road workers, and fellow motorists on the road.

In light of these recent incidents, it is essential for all drivers to be vigilant and adhere to Scott's Law to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of those working on our roadways. As stated by the authorities, "We can all do our part to protect first responders, road workers, and our fellow motorists by following this life-saving law."
